BA MLA / CSLA OALA APALA AALA
Originally from Ontario, Sandra’s Nova Scotian family roots brought her to the east coast in 2016, a move which has profoundly shaped her work, as her practice shifted from large urban sites to the rural, coastal context of the Maritimes. After studying business at the University of Western Ontario, Sandra earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies at the University of Toronto, followed by a Master of Landscape Architecture at the University of Toronto. Upon graduating, Sandra practiced as a landscape architect at the award-winning Toronto firm, Janet Rosenberg & Studio, followed by a role as Project Manager at Downsview Park, overseeing the transformation of the 300+ acre brownfield site into a public park in north Toronto, before relocating to the Maritimes.
Sandra has been involved in several of the region’s most transformative projects in recent years, including Fort Needham Memorial Park, Argyle Shared Streetscape, the Canada 150 trail, Shediac Pension Centre Landscape, Halifax Common Aquatic Facility, and Queen’s Marque; as well as numerous private residential projects. Sandra brings strong project management skills and a refined contemporary design sensibility to each project, with the objective of developing a strong conceptual framework, and enhancing the performative aspects of designed landscapes, no matter the scale.
