The Shore House

The Shore House is an elegant rural retreat, designed for family gatherings. A series of outdoor ‘rooms’ and enclosed garden areas extend the architecture into the landscape, which is characterized by native plantings, local materials, and sweeping water views through the mature vegetation of the coastal bluff. From siting the building to reflecting the rhythm and materiality of the architecture in the landscape, the project reflects a tightly coordinated effort between landscape and architecture, and a thoughtfully detailed project that creates a sense of timelessness, permanence, and integration between building and site.
