River Bend

This new home, sited on a former agricultural field along the Wolastoq (Saint John) River, takes inspiration from both the architecture and the linear geometry of the surrounding agrarian landscape. The general design framework places landscape gestures perpendicular to the two main bars of the house; extending program elements in a linear fashion into the landscape to capture views of the river, and work within the constraints of the existing slope. The landscape is designed in close collaboration with the architecture to allow the building to emerge from the slope, and to create meaningful relationships between outdoor program and indoor spaces, for effortless entertaining and extended living spaces.
