Beach House

The Beach House is a coastal daytime retreat overlooking the ocean, designed for casual family gatherings. The landscape was designed in concert with the building, with a result that blurs the line between indoors and out. From the covered outdoor room to the breezeway, the landscape penetrates through the linear building and evokes the experience of passing through a dune landscape to reach the beach. A vanishing edge pool extends the swimming season with an inbound spa and a spectacular view that blends into the horizon. Planting thoughtfully integrates the building with the site; using woodland species on the land side as a transition to the adjacent wooded area, with meadow and shoreline species on the water side to stabilize slopes, soften the view from the beach, and create privacy.
