2018 | University of Toronto Option Studio

This past semester, Matthew was invited to teach a landscape option studio at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design. The studio entitled “On The Edge” challenged students to move beyond the urban environment, and into the complexities associated with rural Atlantic Canada. The studio was used as a research platform for students to reposition the agency of design as critical to rural revitalization and economic regeneration in outport Newfoundland.
