Eastgate Academy

Nestled in an existing woodlot next to one of Canada’s largest urban nature parks, Eastgate Academy in Moncton places outdoor learning and constant contact with nature at the core of its model for K-12 education. In creating a master plan vision for the private day school, Acre Architects and Brackish have deconstructed the typical multi-storey school building into a ‘village’ of classrooms, connected by flexible common areas, creating a porous plan that allows the landscape to weave in and out of the building, allowing for indoor-outdoor connections from all parts of the school.
